Derek determined to get three points
01 May 2026Derek McInnes cannot wait for Monday’s Rangers encounter because he believes the enormity of the fixture is something to be savoured.
The table-topping Jambos host the Glasgow side in an eagerly anticipated Premiership match as the league enters the home straight.
Far from downplaying what’s at stake, Derek – recently nominated for PFA Scotland Manager of the Year – wants his side to be inspired by it and for the supporters to feed off the energy on the pitch to back the boys all the way.
Speaking to the press, Derek said; “I wish it was tomorrow. I wish the game was tomorrow, because you just want to get the game played.
“But, of course, you look forward to these games. I love the games at Tynecastle in particular, the whole build-up to it.
“So, there's obviously a lot riding on the game. And we can’t downplay that. And why would we? It's a brilliant game to be involved in. I think all the Hearts supporters I've spoken to here are eagerly anticipating the game.
“Monday at that time is unusual, but it's not going to dilute what's going to be unfolding on Monday. The start of the game will be magnificent. Hopefully the end of the game is even better.
“We just want Tynecastle to be in its full glory, to be honest. We want it to be even better than it's been.
“To the supporters, bring your scarves, show your colours, give it laldy. Let's go and make it a proper night. We'll be determined to get the right result.”
