Naismith on Celtic 2-0 Hearts

14 September 2024

Steven Naismith spoke to Hearts TV following this afternoon’s 2-0 defeat to Celtic at Parkhead.

Two second half goals, including a VAR reviewed Arne Engels penalty, sunk the Jambos in Glasgow’s east end – with the boss frustrated by the manner in which the game played out.

“It was a tight game,” he told Hearts TV.

“You’re playing against the best team in the country. As the game went on, I felt we grew into the game more. We had some opportunities and so did Celtic.

“If we’re going by how close it is, it’s maybe not a penalty for us. The Penrice one is very similar to a clip we were shown at the start of the season where the distance between the man and the ball was tight – so it shouldn’t be a penalty.

“Our next four games are big. We’ve now got a month before the next international break where we need to win. It’s a mix of league and Europe, and we need to stay focused on keeping the structure out of possession that we showed today.”
