The Play the Game: Future Coaches program offers a fantastic opportunity for secondary school students (S3-S6) to develop valuable coaching skills through interactive, engaging sessions led by Heart of Midlothian FC and Scottish FA coach educators. This program is specifically designed to support teachers and schools in fostering the next generation of coaches while providing students with practical experience that can be applied both in sports and broader educational settings.

Program Outline:

Over five weeks, students will take part in a mix of theoretical learning and practical activities, covering:

  • Week 1: Introduction to games-based play
  • Week 2: Rediscovering street games
  • Week 3: Welcome games, challenge games, and game rotations
  • Week 4: Game-related practices and developing fun, effective sessions for kids
  • Week 5: Students will design and deliver their own coaching sessions and games
