Shankland: We are in a good place

The Jambos travel to Easter Road on Sunday for a Scottish Cup showdown with their rivals and Shankland, who has netted in both Edinburgh derbies so far this season, insisted that following the Aberdeen victory attention quickly shifted to the derby.

“We are really looking forward to it,” he said. “We know how big a game it is. The Aberdeen game was good, but we had to forget it quickly, because we knew we had this one to start looking towards, so come Sunday, we will be ready to go.”

“When it comes to the Scottish Cup, you always look forward to the draw, so to get an Edinburgh derby out of it is massive and it is a really important game.

“The atmosphere is always better for those games. Both sets of fans are up for it, so that makes it a better spectacle overall, so of course it is always special to score in those games.

“When you are on a good run it does help. It means you go into a game confident. We are eight games unbeaten at the moment, so we are in a good place.”
