Eva: Let’s enjoy ourselves
15 March 2023Hearts are gearing up for a massive Scottish Cup quarter-final at Oriam on Sunday, as they prepare to face Celtic, a side who they took to extra-time in the semi-finals of last years competition.
Celtic were narrow 2-1 victors when the sides last met in horrible conditions at Oriam in January, but Hearts played well that night and were very unlucky to come away with nothing to show for their efforts.
Looking ahead to the fixture, Olid highlighted Hearts’ impressive form at Oriam this season and how her players are always motivated for these big matches.
“We know it is not going to be easy,” she said. “But for me, the most important thing for everyone is to enjoy it. We have achieved our main objective for the season, so now we have to enjoy every match.
“They like playing against Celtic. They are so motivated, but my message to the team is to just enjoy it all now.
“Last season we played Celtic in the semi-final and we made it to extra time, so I will use that this time as a motivation. It is the cup, so anything can happen! We will be brave again and hope that we can go to the semi-finals again.
“I think the statistics show how strong we are at home, so that is something we know, but it also something that opposition teams coming here know as well, so that can give us a lot of confidence.
“It’s true that Celtic are a big team, but Oriam is a big pitch and when we want to play a possession game, we play better here on our pitch.”
