Match Report: Hearts 0-0 Glasgow City
12 December 2024Hearts Women secured a tough point at home against Glasgow City in a 0-0 draw at Oriam on Wednesday.
Eva Olid made two changes from the 1-0 Scottish Cup victory against Hibernian, with Monica Forsyth and Lauren Wade coming in for Jessica Husband and Esther Morgan.
It was a cagey affair throughout in the freezing conditions, with clear-cut chances few and far between for either side.
The Jambos were forced to make an early substitution in the 10th minute. Goalkeeper Charlotte Parker-Smith suffered a head injury when she jumped to claim the ball from a cross and collided with a Glasgow City player.
With nearly 20 minutes gone, Lauren Wade bombed down the left wing and whipped in a dangerous low cross, which was cleared away in the end by Glasgow City.
Hearts were on the attack again in the 25th minute, with some neat passing in their build up play. The ball was fired out to the edge of the area to skipper Emma Brownlie who tried her luck, but her shot was a comfortable one for City goalkeeper Lee Gibson in the end.
Just before the break, substitute goalkeeper Rachael Johnstone was forced into action. Glasgow City attacker Nicole Koslova won the ball just outside the Hearts area, and she drove forward and looked to curl one into the top left corner, but Johnstone did well to tip the ball over the crossbar.
Half-time: Hearts 0-0 Glasgow City
The Jambos looked to up the tempo in the second half.
In the 55th minute, Hearts got behind the City defence. Bayley Hutchison drove into the opposition box, before playing a cut-back to striker Georgia TImms, but Gibson was quick off her line to collect it.
Minutes later, Hutchison continued to cause problems for the Glasgow City backline. She dribbled well into the area, before cutting in on her left foot to unleash a strike, but it went wide of the far post in the end.
With 20 minutes to go, The Jambos had a penalty shout after Timms looked to have been bundled over in the box by a Glasgow City defender, but the referee waved play on.
