Naisy: Our energy was the key

The Wee Jambos were ahead at the break thanks to a Makenzie Kirk header, but were much improved in the second half and they got their rewards thanks to goals from Murray Thomas and a second from Kirk.

Hearts could and should have added more in a second half full of chances, but Naismith was impressed with the second half response and ultimately the outcome.

“The Berwick match last weekend and in the first half here we were too lethargic and didn’t cause them many problems,” he said.

“But in the second half we were much better. We showed more energy and made more runs that made more space which ultimately allows us to create more chances.

“When we do that, we cause every team problems and we show that in the second half. The game could probably have finished double the scoreline had it not been for their goalkeeper who made a couple of good saves and we missed some really good chances.

“From now until the end of the season, we want to win every game. There is no game now where we need to change what we do. It is all going to be about us causing other teams more problems than they cause us in possession and out of possession, we have our structure, and we believe that is hard for teams to break us down and beat us.

“We need to make sure we are it for 90 minutes because when we are and it clicks, we are a really good team.”
