Slattery joins Hearts Women

22 January 2025

Hearts Women are delighted to announce the signing of Jenna Slattery who joins the club on a deal until the summer of 2026, subject to international clearance and Scottish FA confirmation.

The 20-year-old midfielder arrives from Galway United where she has spent the last two seasons.

Previously of Treaty United and Galway WFC, it’s been her form at The Tribeswomen that has seen Slattery emerge as one of the most talented players in the LOI.

Having already been capped 11 times for her country at U19s level, scoring on two occasions. Slattery was also the top scorer in the LOI last season and was named in the LOI Team of the Year.

Unfortunately, Jenna is currently sidelined with injury, but joins Eva Olid’s side on an 18-month deal with the option for a further 12 months included and we're very much looking forward to seeing her in maroon.

Speaking to the Official Hearts Website, manager Olid said:

“We’re delighted to welcome a player of Jenna’s quality to the club so early in the window. This was a position that we were keen to strengthen in, after what’s been a positive start to the season.

“It’s important to have midfielders that can provide you with goals and Jenna’s technical and physical attributes will certainly see her provide that for us. Her goalscoring record speaks for itself and I’m very much looking forward to working with her.

Women’s Head of Recruitment Sean Burt added:

“January is always a difficult month to recruit in, so I’m very pleased that we’ve able to add one of Ireland’s brightest talents to our squad.

“Having watched Jenna for a period of time, it didn’t take long to realise her immediate talent, but also given her age, her potential. A box-to-box midfielder, she has great energy and desire to get forward and make those late runs from deep into attacking positions.

“The prospect of her joining the club is very exciting and I’m confident that Jenna will be a huge success at the club.”

Jenna herself told Hearts TV:

"The proper feeling hasn't really sunk in yet. I've finally made this big move that I've always dreamt of as a young girl. To be here right now it's a pretty surreal moment.

"I always love a good challenge. When I was back home, moving from Treaty United to Galway United, I've always loved a challenge. I think this was the time, being 20, the challenge was to go a little bit further this year and it's what I wanted to do."

Welcome to Hearts, Jenna!
