A record-breaking year for the Innovation Centre

The Innovation Centre hosted a range of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Maths) programmes and clubs that supported young people in developing their digital skills. 11 clubs and programmes took place throughout the year, helping to equip learners with essential skills shifting focus from science to robotics and from design to cybersecurity, supporting young people to thrive throughout their futures.

 

Here is a selection of the stats to highlight the year:

 

Sessions

The Innovation centre team hosted 184 different sessions through 2024, bringing 2,390 pairs of legs through the doors 🚪🚶

That is enough people to fill 75 percent of the Gorgie Stand 🏟️

These sessions equated to 24,345 minutes’ worth of education and is the equivalent of more than 270 football matches! ⚽️

Of these sessions, the Digital Movers + Shakers was the most common club occurring 13 times, where 1,322 free hot meals were provided.

A club funded by Extra Time project at the SFA, designed for young people to get involved in technology and football in a supportive and stress-free environment.

 

Locations

The Innovation Centre team visited 15 locations, on 28 separate occasions📍

From local areas in Edinburgh all the way to 335 miles away in Cambridge 🚗

 

Volunteering

Throughout the Innovation centre clubs over 1,000 hours of volunteering work was completed, thanks to the efforts of the incredible volunteers, providing the equivalent hours of over 2 seasons of Scottish Premiership football! ⚽️

 

The Innovation Centre programmes and Clubs are free of charge, helping support the local community at Tynecastle.
