Cammy's Contract Delight

13 September 2024

Cammy Devlin paid tribute to the Hearts support after penning a new deal that will keep him at Tynecastle Park until the summer of 2026.

The popular Aussie has been a smash hit in a maroon jersey since arriving in Scotland back in 2021 – cementing his place both in the team and the affections of the fans for his passionate displays.

And it was that support from Jambos everywhere that Cammy underlined as a huge factor as to why Hearts feel so much like home.

“I think everyone knows that this is a place where I feel really comfortable,” he told the media ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Celtic Park.

"I feel at home here at Hearts. I’m excited to extend and looking forward to kicking on now.

“I love Edinburgh, and the club’s made me feel super welcome since I got here. The fans have accepted me as one of their own which when you’ve come from the other side of the world, you really appreciate.”

Hearts are back to the league schedule following the recent international break, with the men in maroon set to face Celtic in Glasgow tomorrow.

Under no illusion about the scale of the task ahead, Cammy says the squad have been working hard as the Jambos hunt for the first win of the new campaign.

“Obviously, it’s been hard at the moment because we’ve not been producing results,” he admitted.

“It’s been frustrating because I know that everyone’s been working so hard. We know what we want and what we need from each other.

“We had a great turnaround from a poor start last season too and we need to do that again, and maybe even better. There’s no hiding from the fact that it’s not been a good start.

“We’re in such a privileged position where we have an amazing support, and we need to take responsibility and turn it around. Celtic Park’s always a tough place to go, whether you’ve had five wins in a row or five defeats.

“They’re a massive club with great players but I feel like when you play for Hearts you have to stand up and be counted. We need to work our socks off for the result the club needs and the fans deserve.”
