The Heart of Midlothian Innovation Centre is celebrating a major milestone—5 years of empowering young minds through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education! To mark this occasion, we're thrilled to announce the launch of four exciting new clubs starting this October, running through to the winter break, all hosted at Tynecastle Park. Best of all, these clubs are completely free!
This year marks a special first for the Innovation Centre, as we introduce clubs focusing on Cybersecurity and CAD—brand new subjects in the Innovation Centre that will equip young learners with essential skills in technology and design. As the world around us evolves rapidly, these skills are becoming increasingly important, preparing young people to thrive in a future shaped by digital innovation and creative problem-solving.
Here’s what’s on offer:
For Ages 7-11:
- CADventures: Mini Makers📐💻
Kids will dive into the basics of CAD and 3D modelling, creating fun, hands-on projects over six exciting weeks.
- Curiosity in Action🧪🧬
Young scientists will explore the wonders of chemistry, biology, and physics through thrilling experiments and hands-on activities.
- Arcade Academy 🎮👾
Young people will create games that inspire and educate! They will level up those STEAM skills by designing and developing video games that focus on healthy eating challenges.
For Ages 11-14:
- Cyber Detectives🛡️🧑💻
Join the Cyber Detectives Task Force and help save Maroon City from digital chaos! This 6-week course will train the young participants to crack codes, protect passwords, and uncover clues to stop the cyber villain.
