Community Clean Up!

31 July 2024

Come along and be part of something historic!

Hearts Heritage and Friends of North Merchiston Cemetery are hosting a community clean-up day on the 10th of August 2024 and we want everyone to get involved! We will be litter picking at North Merchiston Cemetery 10am till 12pm. This is one of the first activities to be undertaken as part of the Maroon Mile project.

About the Maroon Mile:

Heart of Midlothian has enjoyed iconic status in Gorgie and neighbouring Dalry since the late 19th century with a rich history that is interwoven with that of the local community. Hearts Heritage will create a mile-long heritage trail that focuses on the social, economic and sporting history of Gorgie and Dalry.
Starting at the Monument, the trail will end at the Hearts’ Museum, where new multimedia equipment will be deployed to share a rich array of assets highlighting the history and heritage of the Club and the area since 1874. The trail will be created with the local community with physical signage and interpretation as well as an audio walking tour.

All clean up equipment, plus lunch and refreshments will be provided on the day - just sign up, let us know of any dietary requirements and we will be in touch with further information.

Meet at the North Merchiston cemetery gates at 10am. Please wear sturdy footwear and dress appropriately for the weather.
