Contract extensions for coaching team

09 August 2024

Heart of Midlothian is delighted to announce contract extensions for its coaching team.

The club has taken up its option to extend the contracts of Steven Naismith, Gordon Forrest, Frankie McAvoy and Paul Gallacher by a year, meaning the quartet will continue to lead the Jambos through until the summer of 2026.

The first team has gone from strength to strength since Steven, Gordon, Frankie and Paul took on their roles at the start of last season.

A stellar league campaign saw the Jam Tarts finish 12 points clear in third place, bagging semi-final appearances in both domestic cup competitions along the way.

European football was clinched for the third season in a row, for the first time in the club’s history. With a Europa League play-off tie against Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih or Viktoria Plzen on the horizon, the coaching team will soon be planning for a prolonged European campaign, with involvement in either the Europa League or Conference League’s league phase guaranteed.

Speaking to the Official Hearts Website, Chief Executive Officer Andrew McKinlay said: “I’m extremely pleased that we have secured Steven, Gordon, Frankie and Paul’s services for another year beyond this campaign.

“The progress made on the pitch last season was there for all to see and because of that, we have a truly exciting year ahead of us.

“By extending the coaching team’s contracts we are reiterating our trust in them and confirming our belief that they can continue to take the team on an upwards trajectory.

“Good coaching teams aren’t always in abundance and other clubs are always on the lookout, so the club also has peace of mind in terms of protecting its assets.

“Steven, Gordon, Frankie and Paul have started the team on a journey and I’m very much looking forward to seeing where they can take us.”
