Critchley's praise for rampant Hearts

01 February 2025

Neil Critchley hailed his rampant Hearts side after their 6-0 humbling of Dundee, and hopes to see more improvements from his side in the coming weeks.

The Jambos had five different scorers as they demolished the Dark Blues on Tayside, with Neil proud of the complete nature of the performance at Dens Park.

"It's not often you come away from home and win in that type of fashion," he told Hearts TV.

"I thought we looked a really good team. They started brightly, which we had highlighted and prepared for.

"I wouldn't say we weathered the storm, because there wasn't a storm, but we coped with what they threw our way. The first goal in any game is massive, and we got it. It was a terrific strike from Shanks.

"The second goal came off a brilliant press from us. We win the ball, and Spitts' was a brilliant strike. I suppose it comes back to those moments, maybe six weeks ago Shanks' shot  would have got blocked, and Spitts would hit it over, but those things are going in for us now. The second half, the third goal, was a brilliant goal on the counter-attack from Elton.

"Cammy Devlin wins the ball in the corner, and we break, and then we're really clinical with some of the goals we scored. It's been a great day, a brilliant day for the supporters. They travel in massive numbers.

They made an absolute racket all game, and it's been a great day for them. I'm really pleased for the players and the supporters."
