Hutchison: We want to perform for the fans

15 November 2024

Bayley Hutchison is urging as many Hearts fans as possible to head along to Tynecastle Park on Sunday to back the women in maroon as they take on Hibernian.

Over 7,000 Jambos have snapped up their free tickets for the eagerly anticipated match and the striker, who joined from Aberdeen in the summer, is looking forward to experiencing the fixture for the first time, having only been fit enough for the bench when the sides met at Easter Road in September.

Eva Olid’s side are enjoying another strong season, currently sitting just one point off the summit of the SWPL table and another derby victory this weekend would move them seven clear of their local rivals.

Speaking to the media at the pre-match press conference, Hutchison said:

“You know you’re playing in the home stadium, in front of a big crowd but you have to go in with the same mindset as any other league game. We want to get the three points and that has to be our main focus, not the occasion.

“The fans will push us on. We want to perform in front of them and give them the result they deserve. They’re coming out to see us, so we want to perform well for them.

“A lot of people speak about it [the derby] in the team. Hibs vs Hearts it doesn’t get bigger than that in Edinburgh. I’m excited to play in front of the fans, hopefully I get on the pitch and if I can score, then even better.

“The start of the season was difficult for me. When you move club, you want to make an impact as soon as possible so being out of injured was difficult, but I worked hard and now I’m trying to make that impact in the team, get goals, get three points and that’s the most important thing for me.

“It’s so important [to play in the stadiums]. It’s a credit to both teams for letting us play at the stadiums and it’s a credit to the fans for coming out. We want to get as many fans there as possible. We want to show that women’s football is growing, and we want to put on a show for them.

“Tickets are free so why would you not come. It’ll be a good game. It was 4-0 last time, so if we can play a game like that again, that would be important for us, playing in front of our home fans and we want to try and get as many fans back as possible.”

You can pick up your free tickets for the match in person from the Hearts Ticket Office or online from Hearts e-tickets.
