Kartum arrives at Hearts
24 January 2025Heart of Midlothian Football Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Norwegian attacking midfielder Sander Kartum.
The 29-year-old makes the move to Tynecastle Park from Norway’s SK Brann for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance and Scottish FA approval.
Penning a two-and-a-half-year deal, Sander will call Gorgie his home until the summer of 2027.
Boasting top flight and European experience, Sander made a name for himself during an eight-year spell at Norwegian side Stjørdals-Bank, winning three promotions and three league titles as they ascended from the fourth tier to the second.
In 2021 he joined Kristiansund in Norway’s top flight and inspired them to a sixth place finish, missing out on fourth and a European spot by only three points.
Fellow Eliteserien side Brann came calling midway through the 2023 campaign, where he helped them to consecutive runners-up finishes in the league, with last season’s title evading them by three points.
His spell at the Brann Stadion produced regular appearances in European qualifiers, including a two-legged UEFA Conference League victory over St Mirren earlier this season.
Now a Jambo, Sander bolsters Neil Critchley’s attacking options and the Head Coach is looking forward to working with him.
Speaking to the Official Hearts Website, Neil said; “It’s been a really positive transfer window so far and I’m delighted to welcome Sander to the club.
“Coming off the back of a successful season for Brann he will bring a wealth of experience at a high level with him to the Scottish Premiership.
“Sander is technically a very gifted player, with the ability to connect the team together in the middle of the pitch and also provide an attacking threat in the final third.
“He will add much needed balance to our team and we are looking forward to watching him play in maroon.”
