Kenneth Vargas heading to Copa America

12 June 2024

Kenneth Vargas has been selected for Costa Rica’s final Copa America squad.

The Jambos’ forward will represent his country at the major tournament – the South American equivalent of the Euros – in the US later this month.

Kenneth, who won his sixth cap for Costa Rica in Monday’s 3-0 World Cup qualifying win over Grenada, will rub shoulders with the mighty Brazil when the tournament kicks off on June 20th.

Costa Rica’s first Group D game sees them face the Brazilians on June 24th in California. They then take on Colombia four days later in Arizona, before closing the group against Paraguay in Texas on July 2nd.

Meanwhile, Cammy Devlin won his fourth cap for Australia in yesterday’s 5-0 win over Palestine. The comprehensive victory sees the Socceroos top their World Cup qualifying group with six wins from six and they advance through to the third round.

Closer to home, excitement continues to build for Scotland’s Euro 2024 opener against Germany on Friday.

Lawrence Shankland and Zander Clark, who have both had fine campaigns in maroon, are part of Steve Clarke’s squad and have spent the past three days training at the national team’s basecamp in Munich as they gear up for Friday’s big game.
