Match Report: Celtic Women 4-0 Hearts Women
27 January 2025It was disappointment for Hearts Women as they fell to a 4-0 away defeat against Celtic at the ZLX Stadium in Hamilton on Sunday.
Eva Olid made one change from the 6-0 home victory against Montrose, with Jessica Broadrick coming in to replace Elizabeth Waldie.
The Jambos struggled to get a foothold on the match, whereas Celtic looked a constant threat going forward and penned Hearts in.
The home side made their pressure count on seven minutes. The ball was whipped into the box from the right wing and Shannon McGregor headed home for 1-0.
Hearts looked to hit back straight away. Jess Richards got down the left wing and whipped in a low ball across the six yard box, but there were no takers for Hearts.
In the 13th minute, the ball was cleared out by the Celtic backline as far as Jessica Richards at the edge of the box. She tried her luck from range but her strike on her right foot sailed over the bar.
The women in maroon continued to hunt for a leveller. The ball was picked up on the left wing by Lauren Wade who whipped in a cross in the Celtic box which found the head of Joely Andrews, but her effort went over the bar.
Celtic doubled their advantage in the 36th minute. The free kick was fired from the edge of the box to the back post and Saoirse Noonan nodded it in for 2-0.
The hosts scored their third just before the break. Emma Westin cut inside the Hearts box before striking a low shot aimed for the bottom right corner which was palmed away by Rachael Johnstone, but only as far as Morgan Cross who rushed in to score from a few yards out for 3-0.

Hearts looked to improve in the second half.
Celtic were compact out of possession which made it difficult for the Jambos to break them down and get a goal back.
On 61 minutes, the home side scored their fourth of the evening. A slip at the back for the away side let midfielder Natalie Ross nip in and go clean through on goal. She calmly slotted past Rachael Johnstone into the bottom left corner for 4-0.
The substitutes for Hearts looked to inject some energy into the match.
With 20 minutes to go, substitute Monica Forsyth picked the ball up at the edge of the Celtic box and struck a curled effort on her right foot which went wide of the back post.
On 85 minutes, Jackie Richards had a pop on her left foot from outside the area, but it was a comfortable one for Dougherty in goal for Celtic.
