Match Report: Falkirk 0-9 Hearts Women

02 February 2025

Hearts Women secured their place in the quarter-finals of the Women’s Scottish Cup with a dominant 9-0 victory over Falkirk on Sunday afternoon.

The women in maroon were 5-0 up at the break thanks to goals from Jackie Richards, Georgia Timms, Addison Handley and Brodie Greenwood. Second half substitutes Bayley Hutchison and Sade Adamolekun scored a brace each to help send Hearts into the next round.

It was a proud moment for academy players Orla Burn and Ava Crawford who both made their professional debuts for Hearts at just 15 years old.

The Jambos began the match on the front foot straight away as they controlled the possession in Falkirk’s half.

Hearts scored their first of the afternoon after only a couple of minutes. Jessica Husband sent in a corner from the right, and Jackie Richards towered over Falkirk goalkeeper Rachel Docherty to score a great header into the bottom left corner for 1-0.

The women in maroon doubled their advantage on 25 minutes. Jessica Husband whipped in another inviting ball from the corner, and this time striker Georgia Timms arrived to head the ball into the bottom right corner for 2-0.

On 37 minutes, Hearts scored their third set piece of the match. Jessica Husband crossed in from the right to find Jackie Richards yet again, who in similar vein to her first goal, rose above Docherty to nod one in for 3-0.

The Jam Tarts scored their fourth and fifth in quick succession before half-time.

It was great work from Georgia Timms who turned away from a Falkirk defender before playing Addison Handley in on goal on the right hand side. She hit a low strike in the box which nestled into the bottom left corner for 4-0.

Jackie Richards played a great through ball to Monica Forsyth who held the ball up and passed to Brodie Greenwood just outside the area. Her first-time strike on her left foot looped over the head of Docherty for 5-0.

Half-time: Falkirk 0-5 Heart of Midlothian

The Jambos continued their impressive attacking display after the break.

Bayley Hutchison scored almost instantly after coming on at half-time. The ball was whipped into the box from the left wing and Hutchison got up high to head it into the bottom right corner for 6-0.

Substitute Sade Adamolekun scored Hearts’ seventh. Following a great cut back from Jackie Richards on the left wing, it found Adamolekun just inside the box who slotted it first time into the bottom right corner.

With 10 minutes left, Bayley Hutchison got her second. The ball was whipped to the back post and Hutchison was on hand to strike from a few yards out.

Moments later, Sade Adamolekun scored for 9-0 and made it a brace for herself. The ball was whipped in from a corner on the left from Jessica Husband, which found Sade Adamolekun who headed it in on the goal line for her side.

The Jambos will find out their opponents in the quarter-finals of the Women’s Scottish Cup with the draw taking place at 6pm on Monday evening.
