Match Report: Hearts Women 0-1 Hibs Women

17 November 2024
It was disappointment for Hearts Women as Hibernian took the derby bragging rights, thanks to a late Rosie Livingstone strike.

There was a blow for the Jambos before the match had even begun, as Emma Brownlie was unavailable due to illness, Lisa Robertson took the armband in her absence.

As can often be the case in derbies, it was a cagey beginning with neither side willing to show their hand too early. Hearts were seeing plenty of the ball in the  early stages, but much of it was in their own half, meanwhile Hibs looked dangerous from set plays.

Chances were few and far between and much of Hearts’ efforts were from distance with both Sade Adamolekun and Eilidh Shore firing shots just over the crossbar.

Former Hearts striker Kathleen McGovern would’ve been keen for a goal on her Tynecastle return and she had the best chance of the half, when making first contact from a corner, but Eilidh Shore was in the right place to divert the ball away from goal three minutes before the interval.

Half-time: Hearts 0-0 Hibernian

Into the second half and the match continued to lack in quality as both sides rung the changes. Jackie Richards, Georgia Timms and Kerry Beattie were all introduced as Hearts pushed for the winner.

Lisa Robertson continued to try and drive Hearts forward from the middle of the park but her long-range strike sailed over Erin Clachers’ goal on 75 minutes.

Just as it looked like both sides were going to have to settle for a point, a shot deflected into the path of Rosie Livingstone, who took a good first touch and slotted the ball past Rachael Johnstone at the near post.

Hearts pushed for an equaliser late on with Richards coming closest. Cutting in off the left wing and letting fly, but her effort was straight into the arms of Clachers as Hibs held on to take all three points.
