Match Report: Hearts Women 1-1 Partick Thistle
09 February 2025Hearts were held to a 1-1 draw against Partick Thistle at Oriam on Sunday afternoon.
Georgia Timms opened the scoring for the Jambos but The Jags hit back with a header from Carla Boyce in the 70th minute to earn a point for the away side.
It was one-way traffic for Hearts in the first half, who dominated the possession and had plenty of goalscoring opportunities.
The women in maroon had their first shot of the afternoon on six minutes. Lisa Robertson slipped Jess Husband through on the left wing who dribbled into the box and chopped onto her right foot before hitting a low strike which was comfortable for former Hearts goalkeeper Jenni Currie.
Lauren Wade got in behind the Thistle defence following some neat passing from the hosts. She took a touch before hitting a powerful low strike which forced Currie to make a smart stop with her left foot.
The Jambos made their early pressure count. Lisa Robertson found Jess Husband once again on the left wing, she drove down the byline before playing a cut-back across the six yard box and striker Georgia Timms arrived to strike on her right foot from a few yards out into the bottom left corner for 1-0.
It was nearly 2-0 after Eilidh Shore played Lauren Wide in behind on the right wing. She drove into the penalty area and got a shot away on her left foot. The ball bobbled under Currie but it somehow didn’t go over the line and it was eventually cleared away by Thistle.
Lisa Robertson came close moments later. Bayley Hutchison turned well into the box and laid it off for Robertson who hit a low strike on her left foot, which forced a good low stop from Currie to keep it 1-0.
On 29 minutes, the ball was fired into the feet of Bayley Hutchison again inside the penalty area. She turned quickly and looked to curl one into the top left corner, but her effort went wide of the target.
The striker was slipped through on goal again, this time on the left hand side. She sprinted into the penalty area and looked to find the far corner with a strike, but Currie palmed it out for a Hearts corner.
The Jam Tarts had a penalty shout shortly before the break after a strike from Lisa Robertson looked to hit the hand of a Thistle defender, but referee Robert Thomson wasn’t interested and waved play on.

Hearts continued to search for a second goal after the break.
Jess Husband swung in another dangerous corner from the right and Bayley Hutchison got up high to meet it, but her glanced header whistled past the post.
Skipper Emma Brownlie pinged it out to the left wing from a free kick to find Jess Husband who took on two defenders and got into the box. She tried to curl one into the bottom right corner but it was palmed away by Currie for another corner.
The Jags grew into the contest in the second half as they tried to conjure up an equaliser.
With twenty minutes to go, Amy Bulloch fired in a threatening ball from the corner, and substitute Carla Boyce arrived at the back post to nod it in for 1-1.
The goal injected energy into Partick Thistle who made it difficult for Hearts to break them down following their leveller.
The Jambos came close to snatching a late winner. In the 90th minute, Emma Brownlie lofted in an inviting ball from a free kick at the edge of the area, which found Lizzie Waldie in a crowded box. She hit a strike at full stretch which was saved from close range by Currie.
