The Jambos saw off Hibs 3-0 at Easter Road to book passage to the fifth round of the Scottish Cup and, after an impressive victory over Aberdeen on cinch Premiership business on Wednesday night, the manager hailed his team for sealing two important wins in a crucial week for the club.

“To be honest, every time we play Hibs is the biggest game of the season,” he told Hearts TV. “No matter what’s gone before in fixtures or around the league; today was enormous for us and I’m just delighted to get through to the next round.

“To beat Aberdeen 5-0, and then to beat Hibs, it’s been a great week for us.

“We saw today with the fans; we had three and a half thousand here with us today roaring us on. It’s been a brilliant day for everybody and I’m sure the fans will have a great night tonight and the players will as well.”

Lawrence Shankland scored the second goal this afternoon to hit 20 goals for the season, equalling club legend John Robertson’s 31-year record. The boss revealed that Robbo was one of the first to offer his congratulations following the full-time whistle.

“The first person to text me today was Robbo, asking for Lawrence’s number,” he added. “I’m not sure whether to congratulate or warn him to stay away from his other records! 31 years is a long time and it shows the kind of quality you need to have to be able to do it for Hearts.”
