Spittal signs

20 June 2024

Heart of Midlothian Football Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Blair Spittal.

The 28-year-old joins the Jambos on a three-year-deal following the expiry of his contract at Motherwell.

A well-known face in Scottish football, Blair comes in to bolster the Jambos' attacking options following a hugely productive season at Fir Park.

Sitting second in last season's Premiership assist charts with 11 created, and 13 scored in all competitions, he'll now pull on the famous maroon jersey as a box-office campaign awaits.

A product of the youth system at Queen's Park, his form in League Two quickly caught the eye of Dundee United who moved quickly to bring him to Tayside.

Making 108 appearances in three years at Tannadice, he got his first taste of top flight football before helping the Terrors to victory in the 2017 Challenge Cup final over St. Mirren following United's relegation.

A return to the top league came at Partick Thistle in 2017 where he continued to make his mark, scoring 15 goals in 89 appearances for the Jags across two seasons.

Moves to Ross County and Motherwell followed, where his reputation for goals and creativity was cemented.

Speaking the Official Hearts Website, Head Coach Steven Naismith said: “I’m really pleased to get Blair signed up.

“He’s got a wealth of experience in Scottish football and his form last season was up there with the best in the league.

“He’s going to provide another dimension to the team going forward and he’ll give us more options when we start navigating through domestic and European fixtures.

“Blair is similar to others in the squad in that he’s had to work extremely hard to create and then take the opportunities to get to where he is in his career. That work ethic is impressive and I think he can continue to progress and maximise the level he can achieve.

“Having spoken to him, I know he’s keen to impress in a Hearts shirt and I’m sure he’ll fit in well to our team.”
