Taylor and Vargas' Costa Rica call

17 March 2025

Costa Rica have named Kenneth Vargas and Gerald Taylor in the national team squad.

The Jambos duo will be part of the Los Ticos squad facing a Concacaf Gold Cup qualification double header against Belize.

First leg proceedings will occur on Saturday 22nd March as the nations meet at the FFP Stadium in Belmopan, before a second leg showdown at the National Stadium of Costa Rica on Wednesday 26th March.

With Gold Cup qualification in reach, Kenneth and Gerald will also use the matches as preparations for Costa Rica's summer World Cup qualifiers.

Elsewhere, James Wilson is joined in Steve Clarke’s squad by Scotland stalwart Craig, who proudly boasts 79 caps. Another appearance would see Craig move up to joint-third, alongside Darren Fletcher, in the all-time Scotland Roll of Honour.

Scotland face Greece in Piraeus on March 20th before hosting the former European Champions at Hampden Park three days later. A victory for Scotland would see them retain their League A status.

There was also a hat-trick of Scotland 21s call ups for Hearts with Adam Forrester, Finlay Pollock, and Liam McFarlane selected.

The trio will head to the camp in Murcia later this month where Scott Gemmill’s side take on the Republic of Ireland on 21st March before meeting Iceland four days later in two friendly matches as preparations continue for the Euro Qualifiers later this year.
