Tynecastle Park Hotel Wins Prestigious Herald Property Award for Scotland

27 September 2024

Tynecastle Park Hotel has won the coveted ‘Commercial Project of the Year’ award at The Herald Property Awards for Scotland 2024, held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow on 26 September.

Nestled within the heart of the iconic Tynecastle Park, this award celebrates the hotel’s innovative design, seamless integration within the football stadium, and its significant contribution to the local community and Scottish property landscape.

The Herald Property Awards for Scotland honour the achievements of Scotland’s most innovative and successful home and commercial builders, developers, agents, interior designers, and registered social landlords.

Graeme Pacitti, Hospitality and Hotel Director at Heart of Midlothian, expressed his pride in the win:

"We are absolutely overjoyed to have won this award. It’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team at Heart of Midlothian and Tynecastle Park Hotel,” he said.

"From the initial concept design led by Ann Budge and Valerie Mentiplay, the construction overseen by Derek Ferrier, to the opening and ongoing management by Derek Paterson and his team, this has been a monumental project for the club."

Judges from the Herald recognised the development, which transformed a vacant second floor in the main stand, into the four-star hotel it is today.

“Fantastic use of vacant space inside the main stand at Tynecastle creating luxurious hotel accommodation with appeal much beyond diehard Hearts fans,” they said.

“In over 30 minutes walking round it was hard to believe that the stadium seating was just above us.  Also it is a great economic and sustainability story in maximising use of all assets, like the kitchens and restaurant beyond their usual matchday use.”

Following the construction, Tynecastle Park Hotel opened in February 2024 and has since received exceptional support from Hearts fans and visitors worldwide.

Hotel Manager Derek Paterson added:

"We’ve had incredible feedback, and this recognition truly highlights the quality and uniqueness of our hotel. We're proud to be ranked amongst the best Edinburgh Hotels on TripAdvisor, with outstanding occupancy rates over the summer period."

This prestigious award solidifies Tynecastle Park Hotel’s position as a standout project in Edinburgh’s property scene, offering a unique experience to all who stay and visit.
