Yan Dhanda joins Hearts

26 June 2024

Heart of Midlothian Football Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Yan Dhanda, subject to Scottish FA approval.

The 25-year-old forward joins the Jambos on a three-year-deal following the expiration of his contract at fellow Premiership side Ross County.

One of Scotland’s most exciting attackers, Yan started his career in the youth academy of West Bromwich Albion, where his talents attracted the attention of English giants Liverpool.

Five years in the prestigious Melwood academy brought a move to South Wales with Swansea City.

Yan continued to shine in the EFL Championship, where he was a teammate of Barrie McKay, scoring with his first touch on his debut against Sheffield United in 2018 in a 2-1 win for the Swans.

2022 saw a switch to Scotland with Ross County - and quickly cemented his status as a fans’ favourite in Dingwall.

In 79 appearances across two seasons, he notched 11 goals and sparkled with a range of eye-catching creative play.

Yan played a key role last season as the Staggies consolidated their Premiership status, scoring in the first leg of their play-off triumph against Raith Rovers as County secured their top flight status.

Speaking to the Official Hearts Website, Head Coach Steven Naismith said: “It’s more really positive news to get Yan in the door and announced.

“I think it’s clear to see that he’s one of the most exciting players in the league, and it’s another statement on our part as we look to add the best and brightest to our ranks ahead of a big season for the club.

“If you look back at his career, he dealt with the pressure of being a top prospect in a big club’s academy at Liverpool and decided he didn’t want to just be comfortable by being associated with a big club, he wanted to go out and play and progress his career.

“He did that at Swansea City and Ross County, and now he’s getting his rewards for all of his hard work over the past few years by coming to Hearts.

“Yan’s at a great age and stage in his career, and I’m very excited to add a player of his quality to the team, with scope to progress even further and I know he’ll settle in well to the squad.

“That takes us to six signings so far this summer and it was really important for us to get our business done early. The squad is really beginning to take shape ahead of what is going to be a massive season, domestically and in Europe, and we’re all looking forward to it.”
