Critchley looking forward to Tynecastle debut

18 October 2024

Hearts head coach Neil Critchley admits that after a busy week, he’s looking forward to his first experience of Tynecastle Park this weekend.

The Jambos welcome St Mirren to Gorgie on Saturday as they look to pick up their first three points of the Premiership campaign, something the new man in the dugout admits is his immediate focus.

“It’s been very enjoyable,” Critchley said, speaking to the media at the pre-match press conference.

“The first 48 hours was quite hectic, but the people inside the football club have been fantastic. Very welcoming, very supportive and you can feel that there’s a genuine feeling towards me and wanting me to do well and I really appreciate it.

“The immediate focus is to win games of football and get off the bottom of the league. That’s our expectation. What I can control is the things that we work on out on the training pitch every day, which gives us the best chance of deciding the outcome of the game, so that’s what I’ve been concentrating on this week with the players.

“I’m immensely looking forward to it. It’ll be a really proud moment, but my pride will come from how we play on the pitch. Seeing a team that plays the Hearts way and the way that we want to play.

“It’s a fantastic stadium. A really brilliant stadium and tomorrow, hopefully we give our supporters a performance and three points that their support has been deserving of this season."
