Practice makes perfect

Following a disappointing defeat in Motherwell, the Jambos have been forced to wait for a return to competitive action with no game last weekend.

Despite being eager to immediately right the wrongs of the Fir Park loss, Barrie believes the extra time spent on the training pitch will hopefully stand them in good stead as they bid to bounce back by besting the Perth Saints at Tynecastle Park this weekend.

“That can be difficult when you play a game like Motherwell when the performance isn’t there,” he explained.

“You want to just get back on the pitch straightaway to put it right, but now we’ve had some time to reset and get out on the training pitch to work on what went wrong and on things that we can get better at. We are still trying to evolve here and get better as a team.

“When you are at a club like Hearts you always have pressure on you. We as players, always put pressure on ourselves to win every game. We just need to keep going and try to win games and then see where it takes us.”

“When we played St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park it was a tough game. They’ve picked up some good results recently, but it’s about us now going out and putting on a real performance to give ourselves a lift and show that the Motherwell game was just a blip.”
