Kent: Morale is high
23 October 2024Frankie Kent admits the Hearts squad are in good spirits following Saturday’s victory over St Mirren.
The Jambos picked up their first three league points with a 4-0 win over the Buddies and the defender explained the men in maroon are looking forward to taking the field again on Thursday night.
With Cypriot side Omonoia the visitors to Tynecastle, there is a little bit of the unknown surrounding the fixture and while acknowledging that it’ll be a difficult match, Kent insists the focus is on what Hearts can do in the game, with another victory putting the Jambos in a fantastic position after the first two matchdays.
Speaking to the media at the pre-match press conference, Kent said:
“The way the game went on Saturday, everyone is feeling good and looking forward to tomorrow.
“It’s going to be a tough game like they always are. We’ve seen bits of them, don’t know too much about them obviously, but we went through their stuff over the last couple of days. They’ve got good forward players and are a threat at set pieces, but the main focus is on ourselves.
“It is quite difficult. Not seeing as much as you’re used to in terms of your league games. We go through the video clips, but like I say the focus is mainly on us and about what we do, how we can control the game, get the crowd involved and being at home will of course be an advantage to us.
“We’re not here to make up the numbers. We want to progress, keep pushing forward and challenge ourselves. There’s no better way to do that than playing in European league’s and hopefully getting through to knockout stages.
“We’re not there yet, there’s a long way to go but if we get a good result tomorrow then we put ourselves in a good position.
“They’re really good. I’ve had a small taste of it last year and one this year so hopefully it can be another good one and we can get the crowd going.”
