Powell's Hearts switch

01 July 2024

Hearts Women is delighted to announce the signing of Naomi Powell, who joins the club until the summer of 2026.

The creative midfielder crosses the city to Gorgie, having spent last season at Meadowbank with Hibernian, where she contributed ten assists in an impressive first season in Leith.

Prior to her first stint in Scottish football, Powell spent two seasons at Nottingham Forest, while studying there. The American had previously played for North Carolina State University before relocating down south.

Powell becomes the Jambos seventh summer signing as the countdown to the new season continues.

Speaking to the Official Hearts Website, manager Eva Olid said:

“I’m delighted that Naomi has agreed to join us. As soon as we spoke, I felt a real connection about how she wanted to play football and our methodology.

“She was a real standout last season for Hibs and particularly caught my eye in the derby matches, with her quality not only in possession, but also out of it.

“Having had that season with Hibs to adjust to Scottish football, where she showed real moments of quality throughout, I have no doubt she will fit into our group seamlessly.”

Women’s head of recruitment Sean Burt added:

“Naomi really impressed us last season, in what was her first season in Scottish football. It’s clear that she has a lot of quality in all aspects of her game.

“She was a thorn in our side last season and watching from the sidelines, she immediately caught the eye with her tenacity out of possession and her ability to move the ball quickly, as well as her dead-ball quality.

“I think she’ll go from strength to strength here and continue to build on what was a great start to life in Scottish football last season.”

Welcome to Hearts, Naomi!
