Rachael pens contract extension
17 July 2024Hearts Women is delighted to announce the news that Rachael Johnstone has penned a two-year contract extension until the summer of 2027.
The Scotland youth internationalist joined the Jambos in January after leaving Celtic and will continue to compete with Charlotte Parker-Smith for the number one jersey.
Johnstone spent last season on loan at Spartans where she caught the eye of the Hearts coaching staff. The 20-year-old undoubtedly has a bright career ahead of her and has now pledged her future to the Jambos, where she will continue her development.
Speaking to the Official Hearts Website, manager Eva Olid said:
“Rachael has been fantastic since arriving at the club, so I’m delighted that she’s happy at the club and has agreed to sign this contract extension.
“Her personality off the pitch means she’s had no issues fitting into our group and she helps add even more competition to our squad, which is something every squad needs.
“Rachael has fantastic attributes, which suit our style of play and I’m looking forward to continuing to work with her as she continues her development.”
Women’s head of recruitment Sean Burt added:
“Rachael already has some fantastic qualities, but she has so much potential to reach new heights.
“She’s already contributed a lot during her short time with us, including a crucial role in a historic victory for the club against Rangers.
“It’s another really positive sign that a player like Rachael sees Hearts as the best place for her to continue her development and I’m very excited to watch her push on and see what the future holds for her.”
Congratulations, Rachael!
