REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY SERVICE AT HAYMARKET
05 November 2024The annual Remembrance Sunday Service will be held at the Heart of Midlothian War Memorial at Haymarket on Sunday, November 10th.
Conducted by Club Chaplain Andy Prime, the service will be attended by members of the Women's First Team, B Team, Youth Teams, coaching staff and members of the Board.
The Rt Hon. Ian Murray, Secretary of State for Scotland will be attending the ceremony to carry out an official dedication for the new stonework, with a nod to the original unveiling ceremony that took place on 9 April 1922 during which, Robert Munro KC MP, Secretary of State for Scotland, paid a moving tribute to the men who had fallen during the first World War.
The service will commence at 10.45am sharp and conclude at 11.20am, at which point members of the public will be invited to lay wreaths next to the War Memorial.
Orders of Service will be distributed on the day, please click here to view the Order of Service online.
The service will be filmed and streamed live on Facebook.
All attendees are politely requested by Heart of Midlothian Football Club and Police Scotland to gather in Morrison Street, where loudspeakers will broadcast the service.
We specifically request that people do not congregate at the corner of Grosvenor Street or the crossing at Dalry Road as the experience of the service is less than ideal from these vantage points.
The road closure of Morrison St will be in effect from circa 9.30am until 12.00pm.
We advise attendees with disabilities to arrive early and gather near to the memorial so that staff can direct you to the accessible viewing area. Please contact Keith Ferguson
(keithferguson@homplc.co.uk) directly with any accessibility questions beforehand.
