Spittal: Schedule can help us

16 August 2024

Blair Spittal says Hearts have a great opportunity to get back to winning ways ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Falkirk.

The Jambos turn their attention to Premier Sports Cup duty against the Bairns tomorrow, with a UEFA Europa League trip to Viktoria Plzen following soon after.

Although disappointed at defeat in Tayside last week, the midfielder reckons a packed schedule gives Hearts a great chance to regroup and pick up that first win of the campaign.

“It’s been good, it’s taken me a wee while to settle – as it always does when you join a new club – and as I’ve said before, my position it’s one that’s judged on numbers so hopefully that will come and I can contribute to the team,” he told the media ahead of the game.

“We’re obviously delighted with the European draw. I’m looking forward to it. At Motherwell, I got a taste of it when we played Sligo, although that was obviously short lived!

“We can’t look too far ahead though, and the focus has to be on Falkirk tomorrow. We have to be ready for that. Coming to a club this size, you know those demands are going to be there.

“Saturday was a big disappointment but that’s the good thing about there being so many games, you always have that opportunity to react. Tomorrow will be tough but one that we’re ready for.

“We’ve watched as much video as we possibly can and feel confident of putting on a performance going into it.”
