Yan: A positive week
18 October 2024Yan Dhanda says it’s been a positive week on the training ground under new head coach Neil Critchley as Hearts prepare to host St Mirren.
Dhanda knows the new man in the dugout better than most from his days at Liverpool and admits he’s hopeful Hearts can pick up their first league victory against the Buddies.
Speaking to the media at the pre-match press conference, Dhanda said:
“It’s been good. It’s been positive. Obviously, it’s a familiar face for me. Someone I have a lot of respect for and someone who helped me a lot in my journey at Liverpool and improved me massively as a player. It was nice to see him again.
“I think he’s given clear messages all week and simplified stuff. It’s about trying to get as much detail across to us as possible, without overcomplicating stuff.
“He’s not going to be able to get as much detail across this week ahead of Saturday, but I think it’ll be progression every week as players get to know him and keep learning from him.
“He’s someone who gives everything. He’ll make an effort to improve everyone, and he’ll always give everyone around the place the time of day. It’ll be good football, possession football, hopefully dominate the ball in most games and it’ll be good to watch because it’ll be attacking football.
“I think in the last few games with Foxy, we’ve shown what we’re capable of. Against Aberdeen, I thought we played really well and were unlucky not to get the win. So we have to build on that, but the new gaffer has come in this week and has given us his style of play and philosophy.
“Every coach has a different style of play, so you have to learn the new style of play, but it’s a good group of lads and we know what talent we have in the changing room, everyone believes in themselves.
“Tomorrow’s a big game. We’ll be going out there expected to win. Hopefully we can play well, get that first win in the league and keep moving from there.”
