St. Mirren Reaction: Steven Naismith

21 September 2024

Steven Naismith spoke to Hearts TV following this afternoon’s defeat to St. Mirren in Paisley.

The boss was left frustrated by the concession of two goals from set-plays, and underlined the importance of next Saturday’s game against Ross County at Tynecastle.

“I’m really disappointed, as are the players,” he told Hearts TV.

“The frustration from the fans is clear. The demands expected from the club compared to what we’re giving out at the moment isn’t right and not at the levels expected.

“The first half performance was good, we created opportunities, but that final moment just wasn’t there. We conceded two from set plays, a year ago we were soft on them and improved, but it’s crept right back in.

“The current run of defeats isn’t what anyone wants but I believe this squad has it in them to get the first win, but also onto a better run of form.

“Going into next week, we need to be solid defensively and take our chances. The buck stops with me, but we work tirelessly and will continue to do so.”
